Finnish Goalie Instructor Teemu Toivanen

By Maurice Tanel
We are excited to announce the arrival of goalie instructor and assistant program coordinator, Teemu Toivanen, from Finland to join our team for the following year.

Teemu is a student at the Vierumaki Sports Institute of Finland and is in his third year of the Sports and Recreation program.

Teemu will be doing his work placement with TSO as part of his studies and he brings a great foundation of goalie training experience that includes:

  • – Goalie Coach and Coordinator of the Paint-Haime United minor hockey organization
    – worked as a summer camp goalie instructor at the Finnhockey School
    – assisted with the IIHF Women’s High Performance Camp
    – assisted with the Beijing Tiger Club Training Camp
  • Teemu shares the same development philosophies and training approach as we do at TSO.
  • We are looking forward to learning as much from Teemu as he is looking to broaden his instructor and coordinator skills with us.

Designed from a Long Term Development Philosophy, our training system places primary value on the Skill Progression of young goalies and encourages them to connect to the Growth Process that will be the vehicle to promote the discipline and mental strength necessary to stimulate on-ice skill improvement.

Maurice (MOE) Tanel is the Program Director and Development Consultant of TEAM Shutout Goalie School.
