OHL Draft Prospects show Character, Maturity and Leadership

By Maurice Tanel

Our congratulation goes out to 3 of our Minor Midget AAA students who have been identified by OHL Central Scouting and are eligible for the upcoming OHL Draft.

Character, Maturity and Leadership are important personal traits in meeting the challenges of any life experience and these 3 young athletes have shown an admirable development in all of these these qualities.

It has been an exciting 2010-11 season for all 3 of these Minor Midget AAA goalies who have worked hard and have met the challenge of small adversities along the way.

We are very proud of their level of commitment and discipline, which has earned them the acknowledgment of the OHL Central Scouting and have been added to the draft eligibility list for the upcoming OHL Draft on Saturday May 7, 2011.

We would like to recognize these fine young men…

Christian Short (<< left) – Welland Tigers AAA OMHA
Was a big part of the Welland Tigers success in finishing first in the OMHA South Central Division and ultimately winning the OMHA Championship. Welland was also invited to play in the OHL Cup where Christian played two very strong games with a record of 1-1.

Bryan Raymond (<< left) – Mississauga Rebels AAA GTHL
Was the leader and the defensive backbone of a Rebels team that was a little challenged in the scoring department. Bryan’s strong character qualities helped him face the challenges of the season and helped him demonstrate to the scouts that he had both the skills and more importantly the mental strength to succeed as a goalie.

Mitchell Ewing (>> right) – Whitby Wildcats AAA OMHA
Was a big contributor to the success of the Whitby team that finished first in the ETA OMHA and received many honors throughout the season including being named MVP and to the tournament all-star team of the Brantford Tournament.

Great effort by all the boys…and always remember

“Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece — by thought, choice, courage, and determination.” –H. Jackson Brown-

We are confident that these athletes have benefited from the Strength of our Program and it has given them the feeling of control over Maximizing their Potential
